A-W-E-S-O-M-E, F-U-N, C-H-A-L-L-E-N-G-I-N-G That's how you spell this activity! Academic Spell Bowl is a team competition where students spell words by writing them down on paper. Students do not have to stand at a microphone and spell out loud...that is a spelling bee. The competition has 8 rounds, with each round consisting of 9 words. One speller per team will compete in each round. There is one regional competition, usually at Mt. Vernon Jr. High in early November and then a state competition on the Purdue campus two weeks later. Spell bowl is open to any interested student! We practice our word lists after school until 4pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Sign-ups will be open for the first two weeks of school. See Ms. Mousa in Room 107 for more info and to sign up!
